The Nox Rocks!!

05 Mar 2020

The Equinox 800 continues to amaze me. Today I was in the middle of a cow pasture, searching a Civil War site I had been on before. Suddenly I get the strangest signal I had ever gotten with my Equinox. Continual repeats with sporadic numbers bouncing between the low 20s to low 30s. This puzzled me as usually the machine is pretty tight on the numbers. Even more confusing is when I switched to all metal I got no signal at all. Nothing. Back to Field 1 and I get the repeats again. What else to do but dig? To my amazement when I pulled the plug (about 10 inches deep) a beautiful Native American axe head revealed itself. Initial input from archaeologists suggest it is from the mid archaic period, putting it at 4-6 thousand years old! Now I'm not one to profess that the Equinox can detect rocks, I'm sure that is simply not the case. I'm still trying to figure out how this happened. Perhaps the symmetry of the object provided a return? There was nothing else in the hole! I don't have an explanation, but would have never dug the hole if I didn't get a signal. Loving this incredible machine!!
