This was only my second time out detecting in 2020, because I had just gotten out of the hospital for having bacterial meningitis!!! My buddy Tim White had been calling me and trying to get me out detecting ever since I got out of the hospital, but I had been to fatigued to go up to this point. I finally said ok let’s go, so he came over and we went out to one of my permissions. We had been out here once before and the only good thing found was a 1917 Wheat Cent, but there is an old hand dug well, and a ton of old glass and plate ware all over. We hadn’t found an iron patch indicative of a home site, but something was going on here. We hunted it for about 3 hours with very little to show for our efforts, but then Mr. Tim yells he had a coin!!! I come over to help identify and it’s a 1903 Indian Head Cent!!! So now we are thinking we have found the spot so I start my line close to where he had just found the Indian (with his blessing) and about 30’ and 10 minutes later I get a signal. This signal was a solid 17 from every direction, which was rare for this field. Most of our signals were jumpy and not very repeatable, so I was excited to see what I got thinking it could be another Indian Head Cent!!! I get it out of the plug and see the side with the III and I lose it and start shaking uncontrollably thinking/hoping it’s a Trime!!! The area I’m in is not super old so we have always discussed how we would have to go up north to another state to find something like a Trime, so much so that it wasn’t even on my realistic bucket list!!! I had even bought one the year before just so I could have one thinking that I would never find one here. But I guess I was rewarded after not detecting for 2 months with this amazing coin an 1852 Trime!!! Minelab Equinox for the win!!!
