We attended a Weekender hosted by Spire Diggers and BERSERKER SEARCHERS just 30 minutes drive from our house, after being told we could go have a search in the camping field we thought we might aswell give it a try..we arrived on the Friday, and the main fields for searching were Saturday and Sunday so anything found in the camping found on the first day was a bonus! I'd already left camp for a quick search while dad was back at the tent having a coffee before setting out, after about half an hour dad had turned his Sovereign GT on and started making his way into the middle of the field..like always he's does his usual steps to get the machine how he likes it and off he goes, only 30 minutes into the search he gets a very light signal and decides to give it a go and dig a plug..the tone becomes clearer and has a much sweeter, crisp sound..the deeper he dug the better the sound becomes, the hole was now very deep..about 18 inches. We eventually see the top of what looks very gold and looks to be a lot of it! After careful excavation of the items the true beauty was revealed, a Bronze Age Gold Hoard! 2 folded pieces and a complete Armlet, an absolute find of a life time! Story by Son, Daniel Dawson.
