Saxon buckle?

05 Sep 2022

A week off work was partly made up of travelling from Yorkshire to Dorset and back via the Rodney Cooke memorial rally in Wiltshire. In Dorset I amongst a few others had kindly been invited through Spink and a landowner some land for a days detecting. Over 40 coins and relics were found. Of the 9 silvers retrieved I drew a blank. The Nox 800 however was hoovering up plenty of pre decimal coppers. After saying our goodbyes we moved on to the rally. A great cause and a fantastic few days meeting lovely people. Sadly the detecting for me was pretty quiet and before we knew it we were on the road back to Yorkshire(via a quick group dig of course) History unearthed Northern gave me a really warm welcome and off we went trawling the fields. Steady on the finds front but after a round trip of 500+ miles and back close to home I pulled up the following find. A great few days and a very happy Yorkshireman in the end!
