One of the keys to success in metal detecting – whether you are hunting gold, relics or treasure - is that you need to keep at it. Success goes to those who are persistent and diligent in their efforts. The fellow who can only put in 3 hours each day will, in the long run, lose out to the fellow who is able to put in a full 8 hours or even more. It is especially true when you put in day after day of effort searching. You must not injure or wear yourself out. Proper coil swinging techniques can be hard on arms, shoulders, back and hips, and other parts of the body, and it’s hard to keep going when you are aching. This is where a support system for your detector, to balance and spread out the weight load is so very important.
Minelab has developed the PRO-SWING 45, a well thought out and ergonomically balanced detector support accessory for exactly this purpose. I recently had the chance to give the PRO-SWING 45 a try to see how it performed. One can see right out of the box that it is a well made properly thought through design. I tried it out with a number of metal detectors, some manufactured by Minelab and some produced by other makers, and the PRO-SWING 45 performed well with all of them. I am right handed myself, but the support system is clearly designed for use by both right and left handed operators.
The broad shoulder pad distributes the weight over a large area, so no undue stress or force is created. The pack space on the back of the harness belt will accommodate a GPX Series detector battery or perhaps a small tool box or a water bottle if such battery space is not needed. For those who want to upgrade their current detector support system, this product is the way to go.
Some may say to themselves that our modern metal detectors are so light that no support is needed, but even a few pounds of weight, swung in the proper manner all day long can cause some aches and pains, especially when using your detector day after day or in a case where the operator has sustained some old injury in the past.
These support systems are also strictly necessary when swinging any of the larger sized coils because of the added weight out on the far end of your metal detector and the stress that can create on your body.
If you are looking for a support system which will really do the job well, this new product is the top of the line, best version of this type of accessory which is currently on the market.
