The day was hot and I had just finished detecting a new hillside where I was trying some techniques to locate large nuggets. Well I didn't have any succcess so I decided to head back to camp. On the way back in I spotted several tailings piles on a distant hillside and toyed with the idea of checkiing them out. I was tired and though yes, then no, then yes go ahead. After crossing several deep washes I was getting real tired and dropped into a small wash and turned left to detect it instead. This looks easy, I'll try it for awhile. After about 15 feet I got a signal, more trash but I'll dig it anyway. After clearing away about 8 inches of over burden I hit a clay layer and the signal was screeming. I picked at the hard clay and rechecked, it is still there. I picked some more with all the force I could gather up and broke some more clay lose. I grabbed a scoop of clay and it rang true over the coil. I poured half into my hand and there it was. A nice large nugget covered in clay. My jaw dropped, nice, nice, it weighs at 11.5 grams. It's the most beautiful thing I ever found. You never know what your going to get.
