After walking many kilometres through thick Bush and scrub I finally located the old inn site. The walls were decrepit and falling apart, so it took a first wall around the site looking at the foundation, the plants that were still there from the past to determine where the front and back was. After starting at where I think the back of the inn was, and finding a few interesting relics, I got this nice 28 signal on the Equinox 600 right next to a rock that was about the size of two fists. Not very deep at all, I assumed it could have been rubbish being so shallow, but decided to dig it anyway. First turn of the soil I saw a flash of silver and the rays of the badge... My heart almost skipped a beat as I recognised what it was. But silver? I had found Australian Military ww1 rising sun badges before, but never silver. I didn't even know that they came in silver colour. Sure enough, here it was. Not just the rising sun badge but attached to it was an Australia lapel badge as well. After returning home and doing some research, I found it was a 'sweetheart' rising sun. Silver plated military badge that was given to those women nurses during ww1. This is one of my best finds to date.
