I was detecting a park in East Petersburg PA and recovered a beautiful class ring. After checking the ring I noticed the class year, high school name, and the owner’s name. I was able to locate the owner and turns out the ring was missing for 35 years! That's longer then I've been alive! The owner lost it one month out of high school, and then was deployed in the military. He then moved to another state and just recently returned to his home town of East Petersburg, when I found the ring. There’s a lot of benefits to this hobby, but reuniting people with their memories or things they thought were lost forever is the best part.
