I’ve been metal detecting for only three years, but high on my finds bucket list was a Roman coin, now I know some detectors' that actually get fed up of finding Roman bronze coins, but living in North Devon, where compared to other counties of the U.K. The Roman activity was almost non-existent, was making my search for a Roman a real headache, so when an organized dig in Salisbury appeared on social media I called my digging buddy and we agreed to attend. Well literally two minutes in and I had my grubby mist on my first Roman coin, to say I was happy would be an understatement, I was over the moon. At the end of the day I had recovered eleven Roman coins, nothing rare or of any value, but to me they are priceless. And my buddy had an Edward 2nd hammered penny, a Henry 2nd cut quarter and I think four or five Romans.
