I’ve been Metal Detecting for over 22 years and just recently started digging for American Civil War Relics four years ago. In those four years I have traveled to over six different southern states in search for my first Confederate Button. In that time I have recovered hundreds of bullets, handfuls of buttons, plates, Spurs, artillery shells, etc. But until Nov 5th 2017 I have never recovered a Confederate Button! This time I was in Virginia swinging my new Minelab GPX-4500 and just got lucky. It was finally my time to dig my very own Confederate Button. I was searching a very small patch of cattle pasture that was pounded by a handful of other relic hunters. So I just zoned in and worked the iron patch and between all of the previous dig holes and iron. I was able to pull out five eagle buttons, a few bullets, some grommets, and my very first Mississippi Infantry coat Button! Couldn’t be any happier with the performance of the GPX and the button I recovered!
