I was relic hunting in Northern California’s Mother Lode searching for early gold rush sites and I came across a large area of old mine workings. Making my way along the creek I was in a flat grassy area detecting along and BAM!! The loudest most crystal clear mid tone came barreling out of my headphones I had to step back! I swung over the spot again and I could see it was a rock sitting on the surface buried in the grass a little…same huge loud pure mid tone with a dead-on 12-20 showing on the screen!!! I leaned down and squinted my eyes and I could see the yellow reflecting back at me and I knew right away what I had found…I just didn’t know how big!! Right there sitting on the surface was a chunk of quartz the size of my face laced with gold throughout. Every single side has gold showing, some are huge chunks others are little ribbons. I’ve never actually used my 3030 to look for gold but it finds the gold anyway!!!
