On August 20, 2020, I was metal detecting a beach named Ferry beach in Scarborough Maine. The tide was low at the time and I was about one foot away from the water. As I was searching the area with my equinox 600, I hit a target. The Id display showed 21 so I thought it was a penny. As I dug down about six inches I found this bottle with a screw on cap. In the bottle was a rolled up piece of paper. I tried to remove the paper but was afraid of tearing it. So I waited until I got home. I finally was able to remove the paper and got to read the note. I have shared a picture of the bottle and the note that was inside. It’s very possible that someone closer to home through the bottle into the ocean, but it’s cool to think that it came from the Gulf of Mexico. The bottle still has sand inside, and I have thought about getting it tested to see where it came from. Not sure if that’s possible or not. I must say I’m pretty fascinated with my “message in a bottle “
