Love this find and the memories that ensured!

28 Mar 2021

After gaining permission to detect around an old church, my wife Veronica and I spent a few hours swinging and pulling up everything that was a solid and not so solid beep. After digging what seemed like a million old style lead head roofing nails, a few pre and early decimal coins, keys etc, I was pleasantly surprised to slowly see appearing an Eiffel Tower and Coliseum charm link by a chain! What followed was what felt like an hour, sitting on the grass slowly scraping and scanning the 10cm hole wider and deeper to extract all the remaining pieces of the Lucky Charm bracelet. This would have to be one of my coolest finds - a lucky charm bracelet made up of locations of famous cities and in 925 sterling. Sadly, some of the items were broken or bent. After taking them home and giving all the parts a lemon juice and baking soda clean, I searched online to see who the manufacturer was. I found Danecraft (Rhodes Island) produced this vintage silver charm bracelet sometime between the 1930's and 1950's. So, knowing my wife's birthday was fast approaching, I took all the parts of the bracelet to a friend who is a master jeweller and asked him to bring it back to its former glory. A quick week later and I was gobsmacked how great this item was presented back to me and honestly, the accompanying photos just don't do it justice. So, what does a good husband do? I grabbed a small snack pack of nuts and slit a small hole in the side, removed a few of the contents and inserted the bracelet (in a snap-lok bag of course) in with the remaining nuts and taped the hole with some clear tape. Birthday morning arrives and Veronica unwrapped a few presents and had a little giggle that I had wrapped a snack pack of nuts as well! After all the unwrapping had taken place, I had to convince Veronica that she should eat those nuts for a pre breakfast snack - it was her birthday after all! After a few giggles, it was great to see it dawn on her face just what it was snugged away in the snap-lok bag - followed by a few expletives from her… Thank you MINELAB for such treasured memories! I love my wife, but I also love my Nox!
