Success Story

Artur Kropiwiec from Pontefract West Yorkshire and his best friend Błażej Lewandowski Bradford in England, found a treasure of Roman coins. Artur found a button from the 300 {300 Bomber Squadron "Masovian Land" model 1928, which adds a Polish flavor to the whole history, once Roman legions were stationed there, and during the Second World War Polish airmen. The current coin score is 52 silver denarius ,3 bronze and one fibula. The deposit consists mainly of coins minted in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD and it includes denarii, among others Nerva, Trajan, Faustina, Marcus Aurelius and Antonius Pius, some of them are rare and are currently at the British Museum for the registration of the find and valuation. Further searches will start around June because there is a chance for further finds or discoveries. Both men belong to the Polish group Phec Thesaurus which can be found on Facebook and these are not their first finds. In their wonderful hobby they found a way of life, but also a willingness to share with others the experience they had acquired over the years. They often help in talks with farmers or lend their own permits, making them known in the Polish detector community in England. They also organized charity fundraising combined with a search with a metal detector. And they willingly show their finds on thematic groups [Facebook]

This is another time when they show how they combine friendship with passion. The story was described by the largest magazine in Great Britain, Traeasure hunting. Besides, it was not the first time in November 2018 that and the above-mentioned magazine wrote about the 2000-year-old Celtic gold coin. In addition, Błażej Lewandowski contributes to discovering the battle in the fields of Grunwald.(The Grunwald (Tannenberg) battlefield commemorates one of the largest battles of medieval Europe.) Where an invitation can only be obtained from the Battle of Grunwald Museum. Both cooperate with the British museum in Yorkshire and scrupulously register their finds in a special database Pas {Portable Antiquities Scheme}The wives helped in the search. Both women never had to deal with a detector. Both gentlemen have minelab800 detectors but wives are using XP deus. Gentlemen have experience with two detectors.
