Grandfather’s Ring

13 Jun 2020

I was asked by a guy if I would try and find his Grandfather’s ring he had lost 5 years earlier. He explained that before his grandfather past away he had it inscribed with the words Remember Me. At the time I was working with his uncle, so I told him I’d take the Vanquish 540 to work with me for the week. One lunch break he picked me up and showed me the area he thought it could be. Within 15 minutes the Vanquish went off with a scratchy 12-13 and a solid 24, I dug a 6 inch deep plug and at the bottom of the hole was a New Zealand 2 cent coin which explained the solid 24. I swept the V12 coil over the hole and received no hit, swinging the coil over the plug and bang a solid 13 on the Vdi. I split the plug open a caught a glimpse of shiny gold. That day I had the pleasure of reuniting Jason with the ring. The look of relief on his face and a tear in his eye I’ll never forget, the feeling I got of been able to return such a precious item will stick with me for life. By far my most successful day thanks Minelab for making such awesome machines and making this recovery possibly.
