Finding Old Coins Again

10 Dec 2010

Just wanted to tell my Minelab story and thank you for a tremendous product. Been detecting now for 18 years. Started out with Tesoro and after a few years switched to Fishers. Though I seemed to find quite a few old coins, I felt I was missing something. That something turned out to be a deep seeking Minelab. Three years ago I bought an X-TERRA 70, and started hunting my old and what I thought was hunted out spots. I was wrong. This unit was much different than anything I had used before. I started finding old coins again. After using the X-TERRA 70 until freeze up (in Wisconsin it’s around November 1) I traded it in on an Explorer SE Pro. I played around with it over the winter in my basement and when spring came was confident with its operation. If someone would have told me before I started hunting with the Explorer that there was this many coins left I would have laughed. After only a few trips the old and deep coins started showing up from parks that I pounded with Fishers. In a season of huntin with my old machines I would find around 50 wheats and 20 silver coins on average. My first full summer with the Explorer I found over 400 wheats and get this, 124 silver coins. I could not have been happier with my success. However, the winters are long here in the great white north and with plenty of time to think about the next season. So last winter I once again traded, this time for the E-TRAC. It is just as deep seeking as the Explorer but I think its true value is the ability to see a good target next to junk. I had a blast working with it this summer and plan on using it for a long time to come. Thank you Minelab folks for taking metal detecting to the next level. Bruce – WI, USA
