Colonial Finds

09 Dec 2015

While detecting in a farm field, my GPX4800 gave me a high tone. After digging a10" plug, a rosette popped out. The back was covered in ash. After investigatoring further, it seems I was in the middle of a trash pit. Relic after relic began to appear with every scoop. It was also infested with pottery, which an expert said some was from the 1600's. The metal finds were 1773 Virginia half penny, 6 pewter buttons, bone handle knife and two forks, a bell, s stirrup, knee buckle, and numerous hand made nails. The area was approximately 6'x7'x4'. Took two days to dig.
