I purchased a Minelab X-Terra 305 used because I've always wanted to get into metal detecting. The problem was, I could never find anybody to go with. I found a local group on Facebook and saw that a few members were going to a spot in my town, so I joined them. It was a dried up swimming hole that had been used for decades and decades. My first day out I found a handful of coins and a couple rings. I went again the next day and dug up about twenty bottle caps and then BAM! A 1998 Phoenix HS baseball State Championship ring. I headed home and messaged the high school baseball coach to see if he could help me get the ring back to the original owner. He informed me that the player had passed away several years ago (he was killed in a work related accident at the age of 23) but he would help me try to locate the ring owner's parents. The coach also informed me that the school had named the scoreboard after the player. I received a message the next morning that the parents had been found. I decided to drive to the school and drop off the ring. After showing the people at the front desk what I was there for they wanted me to talk to the school law enforcement officer. The officer came down the hallway and I handed him the ring. The officer couldn't believe it. He proceeded to tell me that he was on the same championship team and had a ring as well. As far as I know the ring is currently on its way home to the parents.
