Detecting the beach is a great way for me to get out during Shift Work and relax. The detecting weatherman smiled on the conditions last week when 3 consecutive low tides, mid 20deg temperatures and 5knot winds were predicted. All 3 days yielded the usual ally trash, with the first giving up $1.30 in cash and a very light 925 silver chain. I jump to the third day because the sea had glassed off, no wind, clear water and friendly locals, however only 60c and trash was retrieved over 4hrs. The Second day was my highlight and surprise due to the swell and wind both being heavier that predicted. I managed to pocket $8.70 and a couple of sinkers before a solid tone rang through the CTX. I got some good practice pinpointing as I couldn't get the target in the scoop to save my life. Eventually with holding my breath between waves, a small hopefully silver, toe ring came to the surface, my first underwater ring. The last hour was spent slowly moving to chest deep in front of the swimming lane to a floating pontoon. The headphones scared the daylights out of me, going off really loud and strong. Again, the depth, short shovel and water movement were beating me up but held my ground to pick up a huge, two tone gold Mens Wedding ring. Battle scars all over it show how long its been there but finding a jewellers mark from here in town got me searching. Between the Jeweller and myself, we hope to reunite the owner with his precious before Christmas. This should be fun. Cheers, Jeff
