I was detecting near an old gold mine in northern California. I came across a 25 signal but it wasn't very stable. I was thinking it's probably a square now. I dug down about 8 inches and sure enough there was a square now. As I push the dirt back into the hole I saw a reeded edge and it looked like gold! I slowly pulled the object out of the dirt. My heart was racing as a carefully shook the dirt off the object. To reveal a 1874s $20 gold piece. Now if this wasn't already enough, I had the sensation that there had to be more. So I continued searching. I ended up finding two more a 1870s and a 1873s when I got home that night I researched the mine, and found that there was a robbery in 1906. The robbers must have dropped these coins during their getaway.
