A couple buddies and I stumbled across a 1850s-1860s camp. Found by accident but the site has ben a success. 10 coins out so far seated half dollars, seated quarters, gold ring made from a gold nugget, and a few other odd and ends. It started out a cold slow morning but I ended up digging a bucket lister of mine a 1853 seated dime. I was so excited my day was made and couldnt get any better.. well I was wrong I got a solid 15 low tone but solid reading and the vdi didnt move. I dug down thinking oh boy another square nail and out popped a small coin covered in dirt I thought wow another dime. I picked the coin up and as I stood up out of the shadows of the sage brush into the sun I realized I had dug a gold coin. I yelled gold, goold, gooooold. Kevin and chris ran to my side as I reviled the coin to them. We got the spray bottle out and sprayed the dirt off with water. It was a 1860 2-1/2D s gold coin. I owe this day to minelab I've ben detecting over 10 years now and the fun realy began the day I bought my 800 thankyou guys for a unbelievable machine.
