1700’s Silver!

30 Jan 2020

I was researching an atlas from 1858 when I noticed an old home site that used to sit on what is now an open farm field. I called the landowner and was given permission to search the property. He told me he wasn’t interested in anything I would find, and that all I was going to find was nails, but I was welcome to give it a shot. I put in a few hunts there and dug 6 large coppers total so far, 2 King George II half-pennies, a coronet head US Large cent, and 3 unidentifiable large coppers. I also found a few Indian head cents, a wheat penny, and some relics. But my favourite find was this silver 1781 Spanish half reale. It’s a little beat up but still an awesome coin! This is my 2’nd Spanish silver with the Equinox 800!
