Clermont is a small town in central Queensland, Australia with a long history of gold prospecting. It is the home town of Jonathan Porter (and his wife Freida) who service the influx of hopeful prospectors each winter from their Outback Prospector store. I had been driving over a rocky ridge at McMasters GPA for some time and decided to stop and put the Minelab GPZ 7000 over the slope of what looked like conglomerate rock. I had picked up two small gold nuggets and was following the slope down the hill when the GPZ picked up a faint signal near the base of an iron bark tree. After some digging out popped an 11 gram gold nugget ‘that’s made my day’.
