I started metal detecting on 21 December, 2016 with Minelab X-TERRA 705. In June I dug up a WW2 War Medal 1939-1945 at a Melbourne beach deep in wet sand. Two weeks later I dug up the same medal (missing the top bar) in a park in a different suburb of Melbourne, Australia. Well I nearly collapsed with shock! I could not believe my eyes. I had friends with me on both occasions so my excitement was shared with others. With my first medal I won "Find of the Month" in World Wide Dirt Fishing (a FB metal detecting group) for June. The medal is made of nickel. I was able to polish up the beach find but the park find unfortunately I been unable to clean it. I have tried several suggested methods with no luck.
