Since winter is on its way in the Inland Northwest, the lake levels are dropping for the oncoming snow. It's a perfect time to get out and hit the well-used beaches in Coeur d'Alene for lost items and coins. This weekend brought both in spades! The first find of the weekend was an 1858 Seated Liberty Dime with the Equinox 800 and the 11" coil. Since Idaho did not become a State until 1890, a coin this old is rare for our area. Sunday, I got out the 6" coil for a more detailed search of the Dime area with no luck on a spill. I switched beaches to a more popular area and got my first Gold for the Fall, a 14K men's wedding band. After another sweep of the beach with nothing but cad, I hit the next beach down the lake. There I got a high tone in the 29-30 range about 20' offshore. Thinking it was a clad quarter, I quickly scooped it out and shook out the sand. What was staring back was a 96.5% Gold wedding band! The next hour of careful detecting nabbed Gold number three for the day, a small woman's 10K ring with a blue stone that rang in at a solid 7. The Equinox is amazing in the high iron areas and really shines with the 6" coil. Take your time and dig every repeatable signal when hunting jewellery.
