I found this Cannonball in Lancashire, UK, on a rainy Saturday morning, with my newly aquired EQUINOX 800. I only walked 10 steps from my car,as we were all parked on the grass,I couldn't miss the fantastic signal my EQUINOX( I call her Magpie) was giving me. After only a minute or two of digging, out it popped. Excited wasnt the word, I never thought that in my detecting career would i find such a lovely historical item. The only time I have seen one is in a museum. After a long but happy day, with Magpie by my side I took it home and put it into the garage for safe keeping. Just settling into my couch, myself and husband heard a loud bang from outside, not kidding, we looked at each other, my heart pounding, thinking the garage had just blown up. We cautiously went out and to our amazement everything was fine, the cannonball was sat on the bench where we left it. Two days later I returned from work, the electricity board was outside my house digging up the entire pavement and road, what a coincidence the cable underneath the ground had blown up and that was what the loud bang we heard was, outside a few days before.
