My spouse decided one morning to walk the dogs at a forested location that we have permission to use. She suggested I go too and walk off the effects from the prior nights party. I really didn't want to go but she said bring your detector and I'll handle the dogs. So off we all went and I started detecting a clearing near the river. I dug a few fishing weights and then got a good 32-33 hit on the Equinox. I was digging all bent over under some low limbs and there were so many roots. My head was pounding and I wondered, "why am I doing this so early in the morning"? Eventually I popped out the target and wow!, I just dug a U.S. Civil War C.S.A. belt plate! This treasure justifies for some more good times in the morning! The C.S.A. belt plate has been studied and determined to be authentic by several collectors and historians. This has to be my top find metal detecting for over 30 years. I never would have found this treasure had it not be for my wife encouraging me to detect on that day. Also a Thank You to Minelab for the great detector!
