Now I am new to this hobby, and thought to myself, ok, what do I need, so over the last couple of months, I have acquired a fair ole bit of equipment, and my EQUINOX 800 has to be the best bit. So myself and my son went out and started him up. Within 2 minutes we dug 3 holes and found 3 English coins, 2 1 pence’s, and 1 2 pence. We were ecstatic, so carrying on we decided to map out the land we were on walking in straight lines up and down taking it in turns to see who could dig up the best find of the day. Further on we found an old £1.00 coin, 2 more 1 pence’s, a couple of nails, some lead, some hot rocks, and even some beer cans. Then the magic happen, I had a deep signal, quite strong but unusual 2 tones...hmm I thought. So we dug it anyway... First object was a 8" long tent peg. However, I couldn't see anything else. So I got out my PRO-FIND35 pointer and tested the hole...I moved a bit of the earth...and then boom! There it was, staring me in the face...a greenish looking coin...I was like OH MY GOD, we've found an old coin...a really old coin.. Obviously with much more excitement and vocabulary than that. I filmed it, for the first time ever, so it was raw filming at its best. I looked at it, I removed the dirt...and wow! I did not have a clue. Now over the past months I've bought various things to help me out with my hobby and coin books was one of them, so armed with that arsenal of literature I thought my luck was in. Nothing I could not believe it, the coin I found was not traceable. I was devastated, but...after taking pictures and videos of it I then thought, ah, I'll post it in my group page on Facebook, and my YouTube channel and see if my fellow detectorists who are more aware of these tho us could shine some light on the magnificent looking coin. Sure enough, they pulled through. It was a 1787 Dutch duet copper coin. I was absolutely over the moon. But then I thought. Hang on. What is a coin like that doing in an area like where I live..hmm.. Still mystery goes on...
