Unexpected ring return

the Month

I had heard 4th hand that someone had lost a wedding ring on a sport field some seven years ago while playing football. The sports field had been detected by others over the years and had provided some great finds yet no wedding ring had been found to our knowledge. I got up next morning and with my 10 year old son in tow we drove out to the field. The day was cold overcast with some light showers so i wasnt sure how long i would persevere. I decided to concentrate my efforts between the the oppisite goal posts and dig all the numbers from 12:05 and up. I dug a few pennies 1c and 2c and lots of ring pulls/beaver tails but yet no wedding band. Then I got a solid 12:42 thinking it was either another penny or 1/2c I dug in only to pull this carbid tungsten with silver inlay and 9 diamonds ring out. I was abit shocked as this is my first ring made of this material. Not long after that the rain came down and we called it a day. I still wasnt sure if I had found the right ring as I was expecting a wedding ring to be gold. The next week involved chasing down the person who had lost a ring seven years earlier. Finally getting in contact he decribed the ring as dark grey with a silver band and diamonds. We had found the right ring and owner. I handed the ring back later that week and he was overjoyed with its return after thinking something with such sentimental meaning had been lost forever.
