It's wet, cold & muddy but for 2019, that's the UK; so after a long chat in the car park & with a level 3 in enthusiasm, I set off down the track to the furthest field to see if I could find more bits for my tractor & scrap bin... Tramped about 200 yds into the field, turned on the E-TRAC & swung right, left, bang, first signal of the day & it sounded good... A quick dig & wow, and I mean wow, fragment of enamelled Iron Age terret ring/broach? So what do you do now apart from just stare at a piece of history that hasn't seen the light of day for nigh on 2000yrs.. A smile bigger than a Cheshire Cat. 6 hours later I have found another piece & Martin & Keith have found a further 1 each.. 4 fragments in total which are off to Heather the FLO at Liverpool Museum. Just waiting for the ground to now dry out a bit to see what else we can rescue in 2020.
