I have been a casual detectorist for about 10 years now, and just purchased a Minelab Excalibur II. This was the best decision I have made in a long time! I took a trip to the east coast last week, and searched at low tide 2 days for several hours. I was amazed at the debth the detector could reach, I found many targets around 16 inches or below. In this short amount of time, I found $15 in coins, (several silver) bullets, fishing lures and weights, several ear rings, 4 rings total, and one was platinum and another 18k and platinum! Two platinum rings in two afternoons! The Excalibur II give a nice low distinct tone when your over the good stuff, so digging trash is a thing of the past.
