Last Sunday I detected an old mining area Nth East Victoria that I had been on before several times and had found many good things with my first detector. This time I used my Equinox 800 with an 11 inch coil and went slowly over the same areas I’ve previously been on. I was amazed by the depth and sensitivity the Equinox had. I found several Chinese Coins dating back to 1670’s era. I put my old Garrett to the same area and got no signal! Later that day I went to a nearby property with old mining activity. Within five minutes I had found a 1866 English Penny. On my way back to my car I was only 50 meters away and I had a strong signal, I was on Field two mode more looking for coins. Well I dug out a 16.8 g nugget! I gave my wife a call to share my delight at the same time I’m waving my detector around the area and I got the same strong signal as before, I hung up and ended up with another 7.3g nugget! What a day!
