While attending the B.O.N.E. Metal Detecting week in New Hampshire we had some free time and were granted permission on a private site. Turn on the CTX 3030 and ground balance start walking up the hill and instantly had a screaming target 12-43 ! Come on silver dime. I dig the plug and there it is sitting there - It looks and feels like piece of aluminum . I wipe the mud away and its a police badge [well half the badge] It was cut right in half. But it was silver and etched POL . Well after the hunt we were all showing off our finds and someone said the other half was found earlier in the same field . I located the person who dug the other half - Sure enough it was a match. We were told it could date 1870 to 1890's . Neither of us wanted to give up the other half so we took a bunch of photos with the pieces together and went separate ways.
