I've detected an unnamed beach for a few years and found some wonderful things. This particular night I wasn't haven't much success in the shallow water but after finding a 1 cent coin and a 2 cent coin I was hopeful of something old surfacing. After an hour and a half with very little finds I decided to backtrack to where I started. I hit a very nice tone, 33 - 35 Tid which is usually silver, after 3 scoops of sand I ran the detector over the hole, my target was out and do looking into the scoop I see this glorious sight, a beautiful pocket watch in great condition and not waterlogged. After returning home I wound the knob and to my surprise it was still working. Circa 1970 so possibly 51 years sitting under the sand in the water. Just amazing.
