The Bucketlisters

03 Feb 2020

This past summer I really wanted to begin hunting water. My previous machine I love, but it is not waterproof and thus was not really that great to use while trying to water hunt. I wanted to worry more about what I was digging instead of about dropping my machine in the water. I bought the Equinox 600 and when I say this machine is great that is an understatement! I got the machine and the day after it came in the mail I decided I was going to the creek eager to see what it would find that I and my father had missed. I am walking down the creek and get as I can tell from using other machines and watching YouTube a good signal. I dig and out pops a bucket lister, a beautiful skeleton key. I have metal detected for close to 7 or 8 years now and this is the first one I had found. I thought wow this is awesome my second hunt with this machine and I find this! I could have went home happy, but the day wasn’t over. I am making my way back towards where I parked and I get a screaming signal. It bounces from 29 to 30 and higher. I’m thinking ok this sounds almost too good to be true but I’m going to dig it because it’s a Civil War site and it could be old. I dig and dig and dig. I finally get my pinpointer right on top of it. I reach into the hole and flip out one of the greatest finds of my career. It is a model 1851 eagle plate. I flipped out and almost just laid back in the creek. It was over a foot. The Equinox 600 had no problem finding it whatsoever. Thanks Minelab for making such a great machine.
