It was May 10 2014 my son Rob told me the night before he would like to go detecting in the morning. I was trying to wake him for a half hour and I finally told him I was going without him. I figure I would stay local in case he decided to call and tell me to pick him up. What a good decision that was. This place I hunt has been hit hard but I know there are still stuff there. My first signal was one I usually pass up on but I decided to dig it and it was 2 buffalo nickels stuck together both were 1916! My next signal was similar to the last and I figured ok let's see what this is 1857 flying eagle!!! Are you kidding me??? Well I was ready to go home then because I was already considering it a successful hunt. Then I said I'll stay just a little longer to see if my son calls and I got a faint signal that I knew was deep. I almost fell over when I pulled this very worn1839 half dime out of the ground. I started laughing and I said out loud. Rob you shouldn't have slept in.
