Scouting for the hunt

27 May 2021

My wife and I are blessed to both love detecting. We hunt almost every weekend. We usually hunt the beaches here in Florida and have good results, but when we have a little bit of cold weather, we try and find a good alterative. We remembered a place that we visited when we were children. Camping and other activities have been going on there for over 60 years. We contacted the person that controls this property and we were given permission to hunt the property. We immediately started finding lots of clad. We found a number of silver rosies, a few Mercs, a 1957 Franklin Half, a 1916 Belgian Nickel, and some buffalo nickels, but our favorite find was a 1950s era sterling boy scout ring. It was a faint 30 signal at about 8 inches. I thought it was going to be another clad quarter, but out popped this cute ring. We continue to hunt this 60+ acres for more treasures. Photos are of the ring as dug and cleaned.
