A last minute invite from Paul turned into a bucket lister ! Having had a torn meniscus and awaiting surgery I was finding it hard to get out and not able to work. My friend Paul called me on a Thursday morning and said he had found a field that hadn't been sewn on one of his permissions and would I like to join him for a few hours, after some persuasion I went to meet him. After a token cup of Yorkshire tea and a bacon butty we went off into the field, it was no more than ten minutes in and I picked up a signal, a clear mid tone and showing 60 on the VDI one would assume it was a copper coin or some big lead. I called Paul over and he swung the Equinox 800 over to compare and he agreed. Paul wandered back to his hole and I proceeded to dig, no more than 4" down and it was out the hole, slightly moving the spoil. There it was, the colour everyone likes to see, Gold I couldn't contain myself when I picked it up and Paul was beaming! I had rescued a bent gold hammered coin in The form of a Richard II full gold Noble, Calais Mint, type 3a French title resumed, dated 1377-99. It has subsequently been professionally straightened and added to my collection. A day I'll never forget. Thank you Paul.
