After a long day in miserable temperatures, I decided to move to a different spot in a local park. I think the temperature was 94f at the time and I hadn’t found anything other than a couple of modern coins and I had almost called it day when I hit a good signal about 6-7 inches deep. I was shocked at what came out of the hole. It was a military Purple Heart! I didn’t believe it was real at first and it was pretty deteriorated and was missing the emblem off the front. I flipped it over and seen there was a name engraved one it and then I knew I had the real thing. I have contacted place that Reunites the medals with their family members and am waiting to hear back. This is definitely a find I will never find again and I look forward to reuniting the medal with the recipient’s family.
