Old U.S. Silver at an Old U.S. Site

05 Oct 2021

I was detecting at an old town site from the early 1850s to the mid to late 1860s. I was digging every target that was repeatable and that wasn’t iron when I stumbled on a 21-22 signal on my equinox. I expected something good because of how clean and crisp the signal was. To my surprise less than 4” down, out pops a silver coin. Behold an 1857 Seated Liberty Silver Dime. Not only was this my first ever dug seated coin, but it will be my first silver coin in over 4 months. The silver drought is over and I’ve never been so happy. Thanks Minelab for the best equipment to make things like this happen!
