Well Thursday yielded me back at my favorite old spot for a hunt. I started out very slow with the usual ring pulls and the other usual junk. Then, walking around a that I hadn't detected often gave me a 30-34 signal on the X-TERRA 705, I decided that I'd give it a go, I scraped down and a lovely 1921 threepence came to light. About five steps away I had a very high signal which could be a penny, so I dug. The find was not to be a penny but it was an old razor from around the 1950's and 60's. As I moved on to a different spot, I got an overloading signal on the X-TERRA. I decided to give the dirt a scrape hoping for a coin stash. Once again it was not what I interpreted it to be, but it turned out to be one of my oldest finds. Looking at it as I got it out, I thought that it was just a junk lid, that is until I saw the writing on it. It says 'Winding', then under that 'PAT April 23rd 1870, PAT October 21st 1884' , as I slowly finished reading I thought to myself 'What the heck?!?'. After a 3 hour search on the internet it came to my senses that it was a back piece of a mantel clock, circa 1870-80. Which makes it my oldest find. It is made in the USA and when whole, sells for 500 dollars. Not bad for a 12 year old hey? Thank you Minelab for creating such an advanced detector such as the X-TERRA 705. Max Fusco - WA, Australia
