I've been detecting a little over year and started with another detector from a different company. I was getting very frustrated by my lack of good finds specifically at a home near me that was built in the 1870s. This home was the earliest home built in the small town near me in addition to a church down the road. I found a few modern coins and a bunch of clad. I was considering giving up metal detecting for lack of finding anything historically significant or interesting.
Around the holidays of 2019 I decided to trade in my old detector and purchase an Equinox 800 after hearing success stories about it. I was sceptical due to my lack of success but decided that this old home was worth a shot and went back in June of 2020. My first hole I dug was a 1912 wheat cent which had me hooked. Within two hours of hunting I had 12 wheat pennies, a 1912 V Nickel, a 1912 Barber Dime, and two religious silver rings. Not only was this my first Barber dime, the two rings were the first silver rings I'd found.
I've fallen completely in love with metal detecting and my Equinox 800. I hear others talk about the newest, best detectors that are on the market and are set to come out but I cannot see myself owning another machine. Thank you for everything you've done for me Minelab and for getting me hooked on this amazing hobby!
