I have been detecting for about a year now. I started out with a Minelab E-TRAC and have been hooked ever since. Thought I include the coin in my story it is the Southern Cross of Honor I consider to be my find of the month.
I have been hunting an area near where I live with my E-TRAC. It was a series of old houses and an old church. I had been hunting the area for over a month and I was down to the last house that I had permission to hunt. I had found a few silver coins around the house on previous hunts but nothing to brag about. On this particular day I decided to dig all good sounding targets. Not long into the hunt I got a strange signal that sounded good and I decided to dig it. I removed from the hole what at first I thought was a large cent and then I could tell it was a 1942 Rupee. Being I live near Camp Butner I figure it must have been lost by someone that came here from India to train at the Camp during the war. After I got home I looked the coin up and found out it was silver so I cleaned it up so I could see the detail of the coin and without a doubt it is my most beautiful foreign coin yet.
