The other day I was out on a new site. We started at the top of a gentle valley slope but the clay was too thick and finds very sparse. So I opted to head off to the darker finer soiled valley base. What a decision that was. First signal a silver Denarius of the Roman Emperor Hadrian, Bang another crisp signal and an Edward 1V silver Groat popped up.
I had a short break and then a small silver hammered penny of James 1st was unearthed making a Hat Trick of silvers. However this was followed by yet another silver coin a three pence of Queen Anne. This was my first ever coin of this monarch she is very scarce to find. Four silver coins spanning 1900 years of history well that cant be bad, what a fabulous hobby we all have.
