Missed Silver

20 Aug 2019

After the whole family got finished with lunch after Church, My Brother in Law, Corey, wanted to try out My Equinox 800. I gave him a few pointers, and I was doing the digging. Now this yard I have hunted probably 10 times pretty good with My CTX. I told him We May not find much. We were off! First target was a Memorial Lincoln. Followed by a brass shell casing, and then, the top off an old salt/pepper shaker. After this he crossed the sidewalk and went to the smaller side of the yard. He got a signal that sounded fair, but kept jumping around on the numbers. He insisted We dig it, so I did. Turned out to be an old bottle top. Discouraged he started swinging again and got a Sweet Sound. He pinpointed in on it and I dug a plug. About 3” down I got a galvanized nail bent in half. It was about the size of a 16 penny nail. He asked if that was it and I told him that I didn’t think so. Not that the nail would sound that good. I grabbed the coil and swung it back and forth with him holding the machine, and there was that Sweet Sound again, even clearer! It was off to the side a bit from where he had pinpointed, so I dug another small plug to the side. After I lifted the plug out, and about 3” down, there was a Silver rim Smiling at Me. I left it covered and told him that there it is. I made him pull it out, not seeing it. Next thing I hear is him saying “Sweet!! A 1937 S Quarter” And there You have it . I know I’ve swung over it with the CTX several times. Must have been the galvanized nail so close to it. He found it, so I let him keep. I’m sure Minelab will have another Nox800 sold soon. Very Nice Machine!!! Happy Hunting!!!!
