Back in February, a nearby lake was lowered by about 6'. By the time I got there it had already been hit by several detectors. The big stuff was gone but I knew there was still a lot of small gold left in the swimming areas.
I used my X-TERRA 70 with the 10" elliptical coil and put it in all metal. The sand and gravel lake bottom in this lake is highly mineralized, but the 70 punched pretty deep on tiny gold. The first trip I got 8 small gold and about 20 silver. I was digging gold earring backs and tiny studs. I went back about 5 more times and gridded the area.
My totals were 41 gold and over 100 silver. My experience as a nugget hunter taught me to dig those faint whispers and it paid off.
