With some bad weather approaching in the afternoon this fall, I had just enough time for a small dig reasonably close to home. I had been reviewing some older maps from 1875 and discovered some buildings that had long disappeared and a road that passed nearby. I decided to give the road a shot.
About 30 minutes and finding items like a new dime, pop cans, wire, and nails, my 800 was giving me a surprisingly pleasant signal.....I had found a key, which was about 6 inches down, I brushed some of the dirt off of it and shoved it in my finds bag, not thinking much about it.
When I arrived home, I put the uncleaned key on the kitchen table which incidentally and decided to watch a little football (NOT SMART ON MY PART). My wife being the sweetheart that she is instead of yelling at me for the dirty on her clean table, decided to wash the dirt off of the key, and that is when she noticed it was somewhat special.
After placing it on the Minelab Metal Detectors page on FaceBook, we are reasonably sure that this is a Masonic lodge Trustee or Treasurer Jewel that signifies one position in the lodge and the age of the key has yet to be determined.
Although it does not open a treasure chest, ill continue to keep looking for the one that does.
Thank you Minelab for a great product,
