At the last minute I decided to go out detecting after seeing rain was in the forecast for the following day. I took a drive to some private land I have been detecting for some time and thought I had all about covered every part of it, so wrong. Using my CTX 3030 I came across a very strong target mixed in with a lot of trash and decided to dig it and so glad I did.
I suspected it to be an old coin but it was so corroded I decided to wait to get home to try and clean it some. Still in the early stages of cleaning but already identified to being an 1820 large cent.
Maybe the moral to this story is..if your gut feeling says go detecting then go, you never know when it’s going to be your lucky day.
