Last hole was my best result of the day.

24 Jul 2020

Organised dig by Fox Leicestershire group UK on 23rd July 2020. After being out digging since 9am that morning I decided to call it a day and head back to the car to make my way home. Feeling very happy with myself at finding a medieval cut half coin that I couldn't date, I got a very faint reading of an 8 on the VDI. Deciding this would be my last hole of the day I dug out the clod. On placing my pin pointer in the hole I had no indication of metal. I then placed my Equinox 800 over the hole to get a booming signal of 20 on the VDI. Very cautiously I excavated the hole by hand and at 8 inches I was greeted by silver. On extracting the silver I found it to be a Queen Elizabeth 1st 1568 Medieval Hammered coin. Of course I just had to do the Hammered dance as so many of us do on finding a Hammered coin in the UK. Happy to be detecting with the Equinox 800.
