March 4 here in Canada and the weather has been unusually warm for the last week. So warm that I had to try my new Equinox 800. I enjoy Kayaking and numerous times I bring my detector with me while kayaking. I was previously using a Minelab Safari, after reading excellent reviews on the Equinox 800 I thought it was time for an upgrade. Kayaking the local rivers and lakes lets me detect off the beaten path, the rewards are not like your popular beach finds but occasionally you find something totally awesome. I pulled this 1854 Bank of Upper Canada penny out of the riverbank within the first hour of using my new detector. The coin is by far my oldest ever found and a coin that is especially rare to find in western Canada. The ground was still froze in a lot of places so I’ll have to wait a couple more weeks to get out again, I can’t wait, the Equinox 800 rocks!
